Lond Pond Harwich, MA Fishing Report

4/19/14 - Avid Anglers 10th Annual Easter Bunny Open @ Long Pond Harwich

This is the 5th time I've fished this open, 3rd time with my buddy Paul. I don't have great history at this lake, it usually kicks my ass. The turnout was good with 24 boats. Weather was fair, sunny, in the 50's, but wind was tough at times. Water temps were 48-49. Paul had a spot he had confidence in, so we started there, and worked it till noon-time. It was a grind, but Paul put 3 Smallies in the boat in that time. Unfortunately he broke another one off that was 3lbs+. The bite was dead, so we decided to give that spot a break, and check some points, and flats out. Nothing doing there. With a hour left we head back to the starting spot to milk out the rest of the day. Finally at about 2:15pm I get a good bite, and bring in a 3-1/2lb Smallie. That was it or us. Felt good to have a decent bag to weigh in. 37 fish total weighed between 24 teams, definitely a grind. 5th place was 4 fish for 5.85lbs. 4th place was 4 fish for 10.05lbs including Smallmouth Lunker of 4.64lbs. 3rd place was 3 fish for 10.99lbs including a giant Largemouth Lunker of 7.56lbs! 2nd place went to Paul and myself with 4 Smallies at 13.01lbs. 1st place was the only team with a limit for 15.38lbs. Some real nice fish came to the scales in this event today!
